Summary: People thought life was tough in 1983; oil shortages and high mortgage rates and nuclear war on the horizon, but then something broke through the veil and it really became tough. People died by the hundreds of millions. Miles and miles of land became unusable. Communication,transportation, civil law…all of them were just wisps of what they could have been.
The government threw out reasons for the disaster that didn’t explain how Dust became a living thing covering half of North America, or how a virus turned people evil and then made them disappear, and they certainly didn’t explain why magic was suddenly real or why certain people were so good at bending it.
They also couldn’t explain how, in the depths of civilization’s collapse, one family’s destiny could save the world.
All the art is kinda spoilery and some of it may be considered NSFW.

I wanted to illustrate the boys cruising down a road with the Ward Wall shimmering around them, Dust floating above, testing the Ward Wall for weakness. This was the second to last pic I made. I wanted to save the banner for last since I would be more versed with the programs and tablet and it would (hopefully) come out better. Here, after clearing out some unwanted stuff from the original pic, I colored the pic by painting in color in layers and then messing with the layer styles and opacities. I used the mixer brush a lot for the Ward Wall and a smoke brush to draw the Dust streamer.

Got a nice pic of a Colorado highway close to Boulder. <3 I thought this would be an easy pic, but I ended up having to edit and paint the crap out of it. What the hell were they thinking, putting so much makeup on the boys? At least it looks like a pic of SamNDean as opposed to the original, two separate pictures.

I'm...I'm a pervert who wanted to see Dean with a ballgag. Simple as that. Plus, I needed something nice to look at as I figured out what the hell I was doing with Photoshop and Painter, having never used one program and only having limited experience with the other. I figured I wouldn't mind spending hours and hours looking at Dean like this. I didn't mind at all. ^_~
I utterly failed on drawing hair, though, as you'll see if you look at the gif. I just said fuck it and chopped his head off. Lame but...//shrugs// - what can you do? I did better with hair with the smudge tool as you'll see in the other arts. Drawing each hair with a 1px pen tool just made him look like a "Ken Doll" as one of my friends pointed out. :P I drew the ball gag but Dean was created with liberal used of the clone stamp tool. That and the mixer brush are my friends on this one.
"“He’s a guy who’s watched too many porn movies,” said Ruby with a chuckle, “Of course he’s going to like us. I like us.” There were moist sounds and hums."
Do I need notes on why I made this? I'm an equal opportunity pervert and holycrapGen&Katie?? Yes, please. I...I'm actually quite pleased with how this one came out. ^_^
I did make a different manip to begin with that took me almost three days and came out so so SO bad. It goes in the garbage pile, but if you're curious, you can check it out here. You can shake your head and laugh at it. Warning for Naked Girls! Holy crap! It's so very bad! I have no clue why I'm even linking to it. I apologize in advance for making you cringe.

"He stepped into Lilith’s Lair…and stopped. Dead. There were pictures of puppies and kittens and little kids on the wall. They were cute…mostly, but there was a tinge of weird to every one of them. They were disturbing, which matched the room."

This was the second pic I made and it was lots of fun to do. I pretty much chuckled to myself the whole time while making this. Creepy Lilith is creepy, IMO.
Of course, as it was only my second pic, I messed up a good deal. Probably the biggest mess-up of all is not saving my work in stages and not saving the PS file at all. I had to make major changes to it after "finishing" and pretty much had to start over. That sucked but at least it was a learning experience.
I had to draw her arms and legs and after sticking her in the loli-goth dress, she looked really fat, so I used the pinch tool which made her legs not match her waist anymore. So - I cropped them out. ^_^;;
Can you believe you can actually buy that dress to wear? It's an adult sized dress. My five year old ~loves~ the dress. My three year old, who's a fan of the show, thinks it's creepy. lol
The worse part in making this was the stupid carpet. IDEK but - it was zebra print! And those puppies look like slugs.

This was a quick last minute thing. I just had to provide a shirtless pretty of some kind for [Bad username or unknown identity: ]so - Here ya go! ^_^
It'll probably be hard to notice, but the manip on this one was probably the most difficult - and it was the smallest little change, too. I just took that stacked Robo!Sam body and manipped on some Season 2 baby Sammy puppy eyes, trying to show Sam's vulnerability at this point in the story. I absolutely hate the way the eye coloring came out, so the bigger version of this is a more toned down eye coloring.

Sigil Icons
Using sigils for magic casting was one of my favorite parts of the fic. I really wanted to include Dean's protection sigil in one of the arts so I did some research on sigils and the Enochian alphabet. I learned that sigils are very personal, generally created by the user, and went about trying to figure out what Dean's would look like.etrix suggested just using the first character of each spell word - Bransg ils t'gia (I hope that's the one she used - the pronunciations are the same even if the spelling is different).
First I had to write out the spell (which translates to "we are protected", I believe) in Enochian. I love this kinda shit. ^_^ But then I needed to somehow meld these characters into one, something that would be easy for a Caster to draw in the heat of battle.
This is what I came up with:

Kinda looks like a heart, huh? Bet Dean woulda loved that. LOL.
So instead, we just went with the first character from the incantation, in whatever language the Caster was working with.
Dean's, in Enochian, and Sam's, in Polish
Meg's and Azazel's, both in Enochian
John's, in Latin, and Bobby's, in Japanese
(there were also some dividers but, dude, this post is long enough!)
My Sincere Thanks: First, I need to thanketrix for writing such an amazing story! I had so much to work with, it was hard to decide what I wanted to try first. PLEASE, do yourself a favor and read it. It was just AWESOME!
I also need to thank her (and the lovelywendy & thehighwaywoman who work so hard running the comm!), for giving me the opportunity to do this. I'm sure etrix was worried when she got me as an artist as I've not really had any experience, but she was very encouraging and helpful and it was great working together. I hope I didn't disappoint.
